After this morning’s Film Independent 30th Spirit Awards Nominations announcements by Rosario Dawson and Diego Luna, I had a chance to chat with Diego Luna on the the red carpet. Luna, who can be heard voicing the character of Manolo in “The Book of Life” currently in theatres, and who recently directed the acclaimed “Cesar Chavez” starring Michael Pena and his co-presenter this morning, Rosario Dawson, is a true champion of independent film. Luna’s next film, “Mr. Pig”, which he wrote, directed and produced, is in production with an anticipated 2015 release.
The Spirit Awards will be held once again in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica on February 21, 2015. This year the show will, for the first time, broadcast LIVE exclusively on IFC at 2:00 PM PT/5:00 PM ET.
