CARPET CHAT with LUCA GUADAGNINO, director of CALL ME BY YOUR NAME.
As day broke, the skies opened, pounding Santa Monica with rain. But as it came time for the 33rd Film Independent Spirit Awards, the rain stopped, the clouds parted and the shone down on the stars of independent film as they walked the “blue” carpet on the beach at Santa Monica. Ever trailblazing, and even moreso in these tumultuous times of diversity, parity, and #MeToo, the tides of the times were reflected in these Spirit Award nominees and winners alike.
On hand for the festivities once again was film critic debbie elias who caught up with some of the nominees and guests on the “blue” carpet before they headed into the main tent to see who would walk away with some choice hardware.
