Ben Bradlee, Jr. may not be a household name to many, but what he did in his 25 years as a journalist and editor at the Boston Globe rocked the world, a story told this past year by writer Josh Singer and director Tom McCarthy in the Academy Award winning film “Spotlight” in which Bradlee was played by John Slattery.
Ben Bradlee comes to the 2016 TCM Classic Film Festival not only in support of the opening night film, “All the President’s Men”, another film about reporters breaking a story wide open for all the world to see, but he will be appearing with author/producer Mary Mapes, “Truth” director James Vanderbilt and “Spotlight” screenwriter Josh Singer on a panel discussing journalism on the big screen.
Kicking off the festival, Bradlee hits the red carpet and stops for a carpet chat with film critic debbie elias, talking about investigative reporting, the TCMFF and his friend and fellow reporter, Carl Bernstein who is played by Dustin Hoffman in “All the President’s Men.”
