After waking to a morning ocean fog on the beach in Santa Monica on Saturday, February 8, 2020, the sun broke through the cloud cover by mid-morning and shone down in all its glory for the 35th Film Independent Spirit Awards. The only thing brighter than the sun was the talent on hand, many of whom walked the carpet and stopped to chat with film critic debbie elias, others who headed straight for the main tent to mix and mingle and eat and drink, and still others who waited on pins and needles to see if nominations turned into the coveted Indie Spirit Award.
