As the golden-eyed vampire Emmett Cullen, Kellan Lutz has long been viewed as god-like by Twilight fans the world over. But with IMMORTALS he actually is a god – the Greek god Poseidon. Keeper of the Seven Seas, Poseidon sits high atop Mount Olympus with Zeus, Athena and Aries, looking down on mankind and the destruction about to unfold at the hands of the treacherous and maniacal King Hyperion. Can mankind be saved by one lone mortal, Theseus? Or will the Gods intervene?
Due to his shooting schedule and press on Lutz’ other “immortal” franchise, we missed the opportunity to speak with him during the press junket. But at the red carpet premiere of IMMORTALS, I had a chance to chat with him about being a god, fame, and of course, his beloved fans.

All the other boys were there stealing all the thunder and you‘re the one who had the difficult task of wearing conch shells on your ears for an entire shoot!
Well, I could always listen to the ocean which was really nice.
What is it that really intrigued you and got you involved with this film?
The script. It alone is amazing. It’s one of a kind. It’s very much an original. And there’s Tarsem. I’ve always wanted to work with him. It’s been a goal of mine as an actor. And I got to do that in this movie. And then to play Poseidon! I love Greek mythology. I grew up in the Midwest, in Arizona. I didn’t watch tv or movies. I read. So it’s really special for me. I’m a Pisces. I was born March 15th. So Poseidon is just the role that I’d love to play. It’s really an honor to be able to play that.
Looks like the Gods intervened for you to get this role!
They did [with a quick furtive glance upwards to the heavens]!
Do you ever get tired of this? This rigmarole?
Talking to you? Never. You’re a doll! Of course not.
None of you ever get tired of talking to me. [laughing] I’m old and wise and well preserved.
[Laughing] That’s true! We love talking to you.
Do you ever get tired of the red carpets and the glamour that follow?
I flew 24 hours to make it here. Three hours ago to change. I get tired of trying on clothes and trying to find something that works [to wear]. It’s funny. I found this suit with my stylist e-mailing back and forth. She grabbed another one of my suits and she did the tailoring for it to fit. It’s something I wore months ago. So, luckily it fit. But I just love it. I love the fans who camp out. It’s cold right now. So it was great hanging out with them. These are fun. I get to show just how happy I am to be a part of something that Ifm so proud of.
