BEHIND THE LENS was on the Opening Night “Green” Carpet for the 17th Annual TCM CLASSIC FILM FESTIVAL for a Carpet Chat with TARA McNAMARA, film critic, journalist, and now the author of “The Official American Girl Cookbook.”
With this year’s theme of “The World Comes to Hollywood”, as more than 100 years of cinema has shown us, the world not only came to Hollywood, but founded it as America’s shores welcomed immigrants who went on to become some of the most legendary figures in cinema history, both in front of and behind the camera, telling their stories, dreaming of new ones, breaking technological ground and helping shape the world in which we live. Cinema has proven to be a common denominator of language fluency the world over.
And today, the world still comes to Hollywood with hopes, dreams, and memories, and this weekend, the world is front and center at the TCM Classic Film Festival for a celebration of the best, the unsung, the obscure, the renowned, the acclaimed, and those films that show us something about ourselves, who we are, where we came from, and where we are going through the magic of the movies.
As “The World Comes to Hollywood”, TCM Classic Film Festival and TCM show us once again why this is the place to be for movie lovers of all 100+ years of cinema for everything “classic.”
