Eugenio Derbez has long been one of the most gifted, and most famous, stars among the Spanish-speaking population south of the border and in the United States. An acclaimed writer/director/producer/actor, Derbez has long been known for his comedic skills in Spanish-language television as well as lending his voice talents to animation and foreign language dubbing for films like “Cars 2”. Recently receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Derbez also heads a film production company in Santa Monica, 3Pas Studios.
But along the way, Eugenio began to make a name for himself with English-speaking audiences, starting with the Patricia Riggen directed “La Misma Luna” (“Under the Same Moon”) and then re-teamed with Riggen for “Girl In Progress”.
Now, Derbez and Riggen come together again with the faith-based true story MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN. The story of the Beam family and young Anna Beam who was suffering from an incurable motility disorder that in almost all cases led to death, in MIRACLES, Eugenio stretches himself to deliver a finely tuned dramatic performance as Anna Beam’s treating physician, the leading practitioner in the field of pediatric motility and gastrointestinal disorders, Dr. Samuel Nurko.
On March 4, 2016, film critic debbie lynn elias sat down with Eugenio Derbez in this latest interview together to talk about MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN. Take a listen. . .
