LINA ROESSLER is an open book talking about BEST SELLERS and Bullshite! – Exclusive Interview

No “bullshite” here in this exclusive interview as director LINA ROESSLER opens the book on her debut feature directorial BEST SELLERS and the magic of Sir Michael Caine, and the brilliance of Aubrey Plaza, in bringing Anthony Greico’s words to the screen.

Written by Anthony Greico, and directed by LINA ROESSLER in her feature directorial debut, BEST SELLERS is the tale of book editor and publisher Lucy Standbridge (Aubrey Plaza) who has inherited her father’s publishing house. Unfortunately, the company is sinking quickly thanks to both failing and no new works for publication. But as luck would have it, Lucy discovers that legendary author Harris Shaw (Michael Caine) owes her a book pursuant to a decades-old contract he entered into with Lucy’s father. Harris, however, hasn’t written a word since that last book that put Standbridge Publishing on the map and has since become a crotchety and cantankerous booze-addled recluse. Undeterred in her efforts to save her legacy, Lucy is determined to get that final book out of Harris and ultimately, after much pushing and prodding not only gets a book, but a bizarre book tour that is filled with “bullshite”!

Turning the pages of her feature directorial experience, Lina goes in-depth on the “making of” BEST SELLERS from Michael Caine delivering a character we haven’t seen from him before to Aubrey Plaza restraining that self-deprecating wit she is so famous for, to the beauty of Claudine Sauve’s cinematography, to the minutiae of Mario Hervieux’s production design, to Paul Leonard-Morgan’s score, to finding that elusive balance of comedy and gravitas, and so much more.
