When most people think of JOE ANDERSON, they think of his acclaimed role in “Across the Universe” or “The Outsiders”, “Soulmates”, “Brave New World”, “Horns”, “A Single Shot”, or as the chilling Mason Verger in the television series “Hannibal”, just to name a few. When I think of Joe, I immediately go to his incredible performances in Joe Carnahan’s “The Grey”, Jared Moshe’s “The Ballad of Lefty Brown”, and the standout – Deon Taylor’s powerhouse “Supremacy” which chronicles a 48-hour window of real-life events of the Aryan Brotherhood where neo-Nazi Garrett Tully shot a police officer and broke into a house taking an African-American family hostage. As Garrett Tully, Joe Anderson fills you with fear.
I didn’t think that Joe could ever top what he did in “Supremacy” or “Lefty Brown” in terms of character immersion and resonance but he does just that with THE DEVIL CONSPIRACY. And if you are going to appear in a film about Heaven and Hell, archangels, Christ and Lucifer, what better role to tackle than that of Lucifer himself and Joe does just that. As Lucifer, Joe is, to be blunt, scary as hell but with a suave velvety seductive voice making it easy to understand why many can be easily swayed to “the dark side.”

A unique spin on the Biblical telling in the Book of Revelations, THE DEVIL CONSPIRACY is the story of a powerful biotech company that has breakthrough technology allowing them to clone history’s most influential people with just a few fragments of DNA. Behind this company is a cabal of Satanists that steals the Shroud of Turin, putting them in possession of Jesus’ DNA with the goal being that the clone will serve as the ultimate offering to the devil himself. In an ultimate battle for Heaven and Hell, Archangel Michael comes to earth for a face-off with Lucifer and will stop at nothing to end the devil’s conspiracy. Beyond interesting from a story standpoint and boasting strong performances across the board, the tension and fear are real as we see the Satanic plan play out.
In this exclusive interview, JOE ANDERSON and I cover everything soup to nuts about THE DEVIL CONSPIRACY, including shooting in a quarry in the Czech Republic as the perfect location for Hell, working with Peter Mensch as they went toe-to-toe in the battle for good and evil, challenges of shooting with wind machines and other practical effects, and full facial and body make-up for the character of Lucifer.
