Third time’s a charm (again) for director MIKE ROHL with THE PRINCESS SWITCH 3: ROMANCING THE STAR – Exclusive Interview

Another fun in-depth conversation with director MIKE ROHL talking all things sparkling and THE PRINCESS SWITCH 3: ROMANCING THE STAR.

I don’t know what I look to more each holiday season – watching another chapter in THE PRINCESS SWITCH saga or speaking with director MIKE ROHL.  Now on our third go-round together with THE PRINCESS SWITCH 3: ROMANCING THE STAR, our conversations just get better and better with ever-increasing fun and laughter; much like Mike’s ever-increasing amount of Christmas lights in each movie.

Once again starring Vanessa Hudgens as Queen Margaret. . .and as Princess Stacey. . .and as Margaret’s cousin Fiona, THE PRINCESS SWITCH 3: ROMANCING THE STAR blends romance and comedy with action, adventure and espionage for a dazzling addition to the franchise.  This time around, The Christmas Star, a priceless relic on loan to Queen Margaret for the holiday festivities in her beloved Montenaro, is stolen forcing Margaret and Stacey to turn to Fiona for assistance. With her own somewhat checkered past that will bode well for this “mission”, Fiona agrees to help and calls upon an old friend with a special skill set to aid in retrieving the Star.  But whenever Fiona is involved, we know there’s going to be trouble and this go-round is no different, leading to some very unexpected switches, surprises, and romance.

Directed by Mike Rohl and written by Robin Bernheim Burger, THE PRINCESS SWITCH 3: ROMANCING THE STAR stars Vanessa Hudgens along with returning cast Nick Sagar, Sam Palladio, Mark Fleischmann, Florence Hall, Theo Devaney and Suanne Braun with Will Kemp and Remy Hill joining the fun.

Director of the first two installments of the franchise as well, Mike and I join up again talking about his dazzling, ever-increasing amount of Christmas lights and the movie magic that gives us Vanessa Hudgens taking on three concurrent roles. Mike talks about not only the expanded visual palette (and more twinkle lights), but added color themes, upping the ante with Vanessa Hudgens times three, the design and manufacture of the Christmas Star (made for the film by a jeweler!), working with Will Kemp and shooting not only a 360 waltz but action scenes more often found in spy thrillers, and more!  It makes my holiday every year to speak with Mike about this Netflix franchise.
