TIM KIRKBY takes a fun-filled look at LAST LOOKS – Exclusive Interview

A fun-filled and insightful exclusive interview with director TIM KIRKBY as we take a first look at his latest film, LAST LOOKS, starring Charlie Hunnam and Mel Gibson.

LAST LOOKS, a film that is not only fun but thanks to an amazingly hilarious performance by Mel Gibson will have you repeatedly laughing out loud. A smartly crafted genre meld from scribe Howard Michael Gould filled with madcap mystery, Sam Spade noir whodunnit, acerbic comedy, some police procedural, and a touch of thriller, LAST LOOKS boasts some terrific performances from not only Gibson, but Charlie Hunnam, Rupert Friend, Lucy Fry, Clancy Brown, Morena Baccarin, and a standout turn by Jacob Scipio.

This is the tale of Charlie Waldo, an ex-LAPD superstar who left the force and now lives a life of simplicity and solitude off the grid deep in the woods. Alistair Pinch is an eccentric actor who spends his days drunk on the set of his TV show, “Johnnie’s Bench”. When Pinch’s wife is found dead, he is the prime suspect.  If Pinch is convicted, there goes the goldmine of a television show.  Can this investigation be left to the LAPD to handle?  Thanks to a little persuasion from a former flame, Waldo is convinced to come out of retirement to investigate what happened.  At first unsure if he’s willing to even take the case, it doesn’t take long before Waldo is dragged into the strange and often comedic underbelly of Hollywood from actors to executives to “gangsters” and even kindergarten teachers, determined to either clear Pinch’s name or confirm his guilt, as well as solving another mystery involving a mysterious burned body believed to be Waldo’s former flame.

Listen as Tim goes deep into the construct of this film, including having Atlanta stand-in for Hollywood, working with cinematographer Lyle Vincent and designing a visual palette that is light both emotionally and visually, finding the beats with editors Joe Landauer and Nicholas Monsour, Peter Nashel’s bouncy scoring, and more.
