Úna Ní Dhonghaíle edits to the heartbeat of Kenneth Branagh and BELFAST – Exclusive Interview

An in-depth exclusive conversation with editor ÚNA NI DHONGHAILE talking all things BELFAST, writer/director Kenneth Branagh’s love letter to his own youth in Belfast, Ireland,

While it’s a close race for Best Picture of the Year in 2021, editor UNA NI DHONGHAILE is one of the reasons that my vote goes to what I believe is the Best Picture of the Year – BELFAST.

Passionate about not only the craft of editing, but how that embraces and is a core element in the art of storytelling, Una dives deep into BELFAST, talking about the editing process, working with Kenneth Branagh, adjusting film speed, tableau effects, laying in the basic sound edit along with the visual edit, and more. Una’s unbridled enthusiasm and passion for this film are beyond infectious.  Her attention to detail and her collaborative process with “fellow magpie” Branagh are evident in the final product.  BELFAST soars and Una’s work is just one of the reasons.
