Behind The Lens Radio Show – 03/19/2018

Just say “YES” to this episode of BEHIND THE LENS as we welcome three special guests, directors BLAIR FOSTER and NED EHRBAR, plus fellow film critic, JOEL AMOS.

Kicking off the show, take a listen to our exclusive interview with DENNIS QUAID as he talks about his latest role in I CAN ONLY IMAGINE.  It’s not only a role unlike any before in his illustrious career, but one that changed and affected him in untold ways.

Then we welcome Emmy-winning BLAIR FOSTER, co-director and Executive Producer of ROLLING STONE: STORIES FROM THE EDGE, celebrating 50 years of the iconic magazine.  Listen as Blair talks about “the making of” the documentary, from extensive research (how about more than 1300 back issues of the magazine) and exciting treasure troves of original interview audio from the magazine’s earliest days to finding unseen archival concert and interview footage and then choosing the groundbreaking and key stories to include in the series.  And then there’s working with her co-director and longtime collaborator Alex Gibney taking the documentary from a two-part HBO special and turning it into a six-episode series with added content and re-editing.  Fascinating, fun and energetic!

And at the midpoint of the show, we’ve got a big BTL “welcome back” to writer/director NED EHRBAR. Many of you will remember Ned and his appearances talking about CO-OP OF THE DAMNED, FUN SIZE HORROR, and BUNKER, but now he’s here with his long-awaited feature film debut – THE CALIFORNIA NO!  As a surprise for Ned and our listeners, fellow critic JOEL DAVID AMOS (www.themoviemensch.com) joins the discussion as we talk with Ned about everything from casting to color to cinematography to location to music.
