Behind The Lens Radio Show – 12/03/2018

It’s a fun-filled BEHIND THE LENS this episode thanks to writer/director NED EHRBAR who’s back (for the 4th time!) talking about his new film CALIFORNIA NO which is available to all on December 4, while composer ETHAN GOLD talks about his beautiful score and title song for THE SONG OF SWAY LAKE!

We had hoped to start off the show with our prerecorded exclusive interview with MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS director Josie Rourke, but thanks to an early call in from ETHAN GOLD, we cut to the chase and dive straight into the haunting beauty of SWAY LAKE.  One of the year’s most exquisite scores, take a listen as Ethan talks about creating the various compositions within the score, as well as the title track sung by John Grant, and blending classical concerto with the jazz beats and instrumentation of the 30’s and 40’s.  You can hear Ethan’s passion for music as he speaks, particularly when he talks about the emotional connection which drives him to each score.  A truly lovely conversation.  Can’t wait to have Ethan back on #BTLRadioShow.  The soundtrack for THE SONG OF SWAY LAKE is available now as is the vinyl edition of the title track.

And there’s our pal, writer/director NED EHRBAR talking about his first feature film CALIFORNIA NO.  Regular listeners and readers may recall that Ned was on the show last year when the film embarked on a festival circuit run.  Well now, the film has multi-platform distribution and is releasing Tuesday, December 4, which means Ned can also talk about something new – budget.  Filmmakers don’t want to miss this as he talks about making a polished feature for $25,000, casting, visual styling, plus some helpful hints for anyone trying to get distribution for their film.  Ned is the proof that dreams do come true with hard work, sticktuitiveness, and a whole lot of belief in yourself.
