Another great show for you this week on BEHIND THE LENS as we welcome back one of BTL’s favorite “effing friends” QUINCY ROSE, plus a new friend, writer/director DAVID HARTMAN!
First up today is QUINCY ROSE talking up his new film, FRIENDS EFFING FRIENDS EFFING FRIENDS. Long time BTL listeners will remember getting a taste of FRIENDS EFFING while it was still on the festival circuit when Quincy joined us to talk about his debut feature “Miles to Go”. Now FRIENDS EFFING is available to everyone, so it’s the perfect time to hear Quincy talk about his “effing” journey, from story idea to lensing to distribution! And yes, Quincy talks about not only his dad, the legendary Mickey Rose, but “Uncle” Woody Allen with an interesting discussion on filming styles.
And then our love for PHANTASM continues this week with DAVID HARTMAN, co-writer/director of the fifth and final phantastic film in the phranchise – PHANTASM: RAVAGER. David has all the excitement of a kid in a candy store on Christmas morning tearing into one box after another of glistening gifts; in this case, the gift of being handed the directorial reins for RAVAGER by PHANTASM creator and phranchise godfather himself, Don Coscarelli. Listen as David talks about his work as an animator and illustrator and how this one little kid’s phascination with PHANTASM led him to where he is today.
Plus, get a peak of what Oliver Stone had to say during a recent press about writing and directing SNOWDEN when I asked him about working within the constraints of Espionage Act and pending charges against Edward Snowden. As comes as no surprise, Stone has some insightful commentary as timely and topical as ever.
