2020 TCM Film Festival goes BACK TO THE FUTURE on Opening Night!

 

Turner Classic Movies is going BACK TO THE FUTURE for the Opening Night of the 11th annual TCM Classic Film Festival.  Kicking off the festival will be a 35th-anniversary screening of BACK TO THE FUTURE (1985), with stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Lea Thompson, along with screenwriter/producer Bob Gale in attendance.

Also announced are additional titles screening at the festival including:  George Cukor’s A DOUBLE LIFE (1947), starring Ronald Colman and Shelley Winters; Cukor’s pre-Code comedic drama DINNER AT EIGHT (1933), starring Jean Harlow, Wallace Beery and Marie Dressler; Alfred Hitchcock’s remake of his original 1934 thriller THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH (1956); Jean Arthur and Charles Coburn in Sam Wood’s THE DEVIL AND MISS JONES (1941); and Alfred Santell’s drama THAT BRENNAN GIRL (1946).

Previously announced films screening at the festival include THE BISHOP’S WIFE (1947) starring Cary Grant, Loretta Young, and David Niven, Steven Spielberg’s CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (1977), HARVEY (1950) starring Jimmy Stewart,  JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS (1963) showcasing the wonders of Ray Harryhausen, LOST HORIZON (1937), the 60th Anniversary Presentation of H.G. Wells’ THE TIME MACHINE (1960) starring Rod Taylor, the beloved THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939), and one of the greatest love stories of all-time, the 40th-Anniversary Presentation of  SOMEWHERE IN TIME (1980) starring Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve.

With a central theme Grand Illusions: Fantastic Worlds on Film, the 11th Annual TCM Classic Film Festival runs April 16-19, 2020 in the heart of Hollywood headquartered at The Roosevelt Hotel with screenings and events taking place at the TCL Chinese Theatre, TCL Chinese 6 complex and more!
