Magnus is not your average pet.
After an experiment gone wrong, a young boy named Jake makes a new friend. When his new lovable pet begins growing larger and larger, it becomes hard for Jake to keep the mischievous creature a secret. While continuing to grow the animal starts some chaos around town causing the military start looking for their missing dinosaur. Now Jake and his friends must save their ‘pet’ in this heartwarming tale of friendship, mystery and adventure.
From acclaimed Emmy-winner, writer/director Matt Drummond, comes one of the most wonderfully heartwarming, fun-filled adventures for the whole family! Think a blend of Ivan Reitman’s 2001 comedy “Evolution” plus “Goonies” plus “E.T.” all rolled into one. Magnus just steals your heart! The creature creation and animation is where Drummond really soars visually as his work truly harkens to that of Tippet Studios and what they did with “Evolution.” But the heart of MY PET DINOSAUR comes from a solid story and the love between a boy and his dog, er, dinosaur. Each character is not only believable but resonant and connectable; and the adventure that unfolds? Fun, Fun, Fun! Beyond the relationship between Jake and Magnus, Drummond also develops a strong plot point with the sibling dynamic between Jake and his brother Mike, as well as friendship and loyalty of Jake’s friends. But what really pulls at the heartstrings is Jordan Dulieu’s performance as Jake and the growing love between Jake and Magnus. MY PET DINOSAUR is truly a winning indie gem.
