Angelus Silesius, Royal Road Entertainment and The Safran Company announce their partnership on VALLEY OF THE GODS, a new film from renowned filmmaker and artist Lech Majewski (THE MILL AND THE CROSS, THE GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS, BASQUIAT).
VALLEY OF THE GODS is being produced by Filip Jan Rymsza for Royal Road Entertainment and Lech Majewski for Angelus Silesius. Principal photography is set to begin this summer in Poland, Italy and Utah. Financing is being provided by the Polish Film Institute, which just celebrated Poland’s first Academy Award win for IDA, and by Royal Road Entertainment out of Luxembourg. Royal Road’s Carla Rosen-Vacher is co-producing. Mary Vernieu and Venus Kanani are casting out of Los Angeles.
“Lech is bringing the rich, visual language he honed on THE MILL AND THE CROSS to a story large in imagination and scope,” says Royal Road Entertainment Managing Partner Filip Jan Rymsza.
A mix of fantasy and sci-fi, VALLEY OF THE GODS entwines Navajo lore with a reclusive trillionaire and his would-be biographer, creating a fascinating, mysterious and idiosyncratic vision of America.
Majewski’s last film, THE MILL AND THE CROSS, which starred Rutger Hauer (BLADE RUNNER, BATMAN BEGINS), Michael York (AUSTIN POWERS, LOGAN’S RUN) and recent Berlinale-winner Charlotte Rampling (MELANCHOLIA, THE DUCHESS) premiered to great acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival followed by a two-year festival run. Majewski’s individual retrospectives include The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The National Gallery in Washington D.C. and the Louvre.
