Legendary actor Sam Elliott is back in the starring saddle again with THE HERO! The iconic image of the Old West and long maintaining heartthrob status with the ladies, Elliott has become a more constant presence in recent years, and one with leading man status, with films like “I’ll See You In My Dreams” and “Grandma”, a tv presence opposite Ashton Kutcher in “The Ranch”, and all while dazzling kids and adults alike voicing a T-Rex in “The Good Dinosaur”. And now he stars in Brett Haley’s THE HERO!
Lee Hayden (Sam Elliott) is an aging Western icon with a golden voice, but his best performances are decades behind him. He spends his days reliving old glories and smoking too much weed with his former-co-star-turned-dealer, Jeremy (Nick Offerman), until a surprise cancer diagnosis brings his priorities into sharp focus. He soon strikes up an exciting, contentious relationship with stand-up comic Charlotte (Laura Prepon), and he attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Lucy (Krysten Ritter), all while searching for one final role to cement his legacy.
Directed by Brett Haley and co-written by Haley and Marc Basch, starring alongside Elliott are Laura Prepon, Krysten Ritter, Nick Offerman and Elliott’s real-life wife, Katharine Ross.
The Orchard will release THE HERO in NY/LA June 9 followed by a national rollout
