As exclusively reported by The Hollywood Reporter this morning, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be honored by the Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) with the HCA Trailblazer Award at the 4th annual HCA Film Awards on March 5, 2020.
Honoring actors and filmmakers who speak out and advocate for social change, HCA Chairman Scott Menzel stated, “Dwayne Johnson epitomizes everything our Trailblazer Award stands for. He goes above and beyond on many things in the world that actually matter and uses his voice to do good in a time most needed.”
Together with his business partner Dany Garcia, under their Seven Bucks Production banner they have backed projects like NBC’s The Titan Games, Disney’s Jungle Cruise, and Hobbs & Shaw for Universal. NBC also airs Young Rock, a situation comedy based on extraordinary events in Johnson’s life.
But beyond Hollywood, Johnson’s philanthropic endeavors touch the corners of the world and all aspects of life. In addition to his long-time advocacy and support for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, during the pandemic, Johnson has made donations to frontline workers and first responders. He also used his voice and recognition to support the Black Lives Matter movement.
Johnson will next be seen in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
The 4th annual HCA Film Awards will stream virtually on March 5th on the official HCA Facebook page and YouTube Channel.
