In 1979 Brooklyn, Jack Anderson is a down and out struggling law student desperate for a loan to pay his school tuition. Jack is an artist at heart, but decides to go to law school after his father Doug (Eric Roberts) is incarcerated for embezzlement. He’s hoping to help his father’s case, but without the money to pay his tuition, he’ll have to drop out. Everywhere Jack turns, he gets shot down – by the banks, by society and sadly, by girls. Jack’s only hope lies in his fellow classmate and horse-betting friend, Gino. Gino’s Uncle Dennis, an Irishman with questionable business practices, has the cash Jack needs to pay off his tuition, but that loan comes with a steep and treacherous price.
Shot completely in 16mm, 79 PARTS is a gritty, period action comedy film that walks the audience back to a time of idiotic small-time hoods, loan sharks, scam artists, Feds, gamblers and illegal Irish and Italian immigrants. With its sardonic humor and multi-layered plot, 79 PARTS is an altogether wacky, lighthearted fun film, with notable performances by veteran actors Eric Roberts, Tony Lo Bianco, Katherine Narducci and Sandra Bernhard. Rounding out the ensemble cast are Ryan O’Callaghan, Johnny Solo, Aidan Redmond, Lisa Regina and Daniella Mastropietro.
79 PARTS Is directed Ari Taub (The Fallen; On Time). Taub has directed over 15 award-winning short films, commercials, music videos and stage plays, and has received numerous awards, including “Audience Choice“ at the Soho International Film Festival, and “Best Director” and at the Milan International Film Festival. The film is written by Chuck McMahon and Mario Radosta, and produced by John Overend, Katie Stults and Tom Nikko. Kevin Griffiths and Jared Safier serve as Executive Producers, with Donna McKenna CSA as Casting Director.
