The spy business is alive and well! Check out the trailer for the fascinating documentary CASTRO’S SPIES!

Releasing in theatres and digitally on May 13th is CASTRO’S SPIES, a nail-biting documentary on Cuban Spies sent undercover to America in the ‘90s.  Timely and fascinating!

Who doesn’t love a spy thriller, be it a John le Carre novel, tales of Mata Hari, a 007 film, or a classic-era film like Hitchcock’s Notorious or Foreign Correspondent, Richard Thorpe’s Above Suspicion, or something more contemporary like Susanna White’s Our Kind of Traitor?  Spy thrillers have never lost their luster or fascination with the public.  Right now, spy thrillers are filling our theatres and streaming services with films like  All the Old Knives, Agent Game, and the upcoming Operation Mincemeat.   But where do all the great ideas and “facts” for spy movies start?  With real spies, of course.

In the 1990s, an elite group of Cuban spies was sent to the US. From their recruitment, training and eventual capture on US soil, this film peers into a secret world of false identities, love affairs and betrayal. With never before seen footage from the Cuban Film Institute’s archive and first-hand testimony from the people at the heart of this story, CASTRO’S SPIES gives a rare glimpse into the shadowy world of a spy – where the stakes are life and death.

CASTRO’S SPIES is directed & produced by Ollie Aslin & Gary Lennon.
