LOS ANGELES, CA \u2013 The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that 15 films in the Documentary Feature category will advance in the voting process for the 87th Oscars\u00ae.\u00a0 One hundred thirty-four films were originally submitted in the category.<\/p>\n

The 15 films are listed below in alphabetical order by title, with their production companies:<\/p>\n

“Art and Craft,” Purple Parrot Films
\n“The Case against 8,” Day in Court
\n“Citizen Koch,” Elsewhere Films
\n“CitizenFour,” Praxis Films
\n“Finding Vivian Maier,” Ravine Pictures
\n“The Internet\u2019s Own Boy,” Luminant Media
\n“Jodorowsky\u2019s Dune,” City Film
\n“Keep On Keepin\u2019 On,” Absolute Clay Productions
\n“The Kill Team,” f\/8 filmworks
\n“Last Days in Vietnam,” Moxie Firecracker Films
\n“Life Itself,” Kartemquin Films and Film Rites
\n“The Overnighters,” Mile End Films West
\n“The Salt of the Earth,” Decia Films
\n“Tales of the Grim Sleeper,” Lafayette Film
\n“Virunga,” Grain Media<\/p>\n

The Academy\u2019s Documentary Branch determined the shortlist in a preliminary round of voting.\u00a0 Documentary Branch members will now select the five nominees from among the 15 titles.<\/p>\n

The 87th Academy Awards\u00ae nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy\u2019s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.<\/p>\n

The Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre\u00ae at Hollywood & Highland Center\u00ae in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network.\u00a0 The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.<\/p>\n
