And the field grows ever narrower as we count down to the 88th Academy Awards as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that 15 films in the Documentary Feature category, out of the 124 films submitted in this category, will advance in the voting process for Oscar gold.<\/p>\n

The Academy\u2019s Documentary Branch determined the shortlist in a preliminary round of voting.\u00a0 Documentary Branch members will now select the five nominees from among the 15 titles.<\/p>\n

The 88th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 5:30 a.m. PT at the Academy\u2019s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.<\/p>\n

The 88th Oscars\u00ae<\/sup> will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre\u00ae<\/sup> at Hollywood & Highland Center\u00ae<\/sup> in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network at 7 p.m. ET\/4 p.m. PT.<\/strong> \u00a0The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.<\/p>\n
