Turner Classic Movies (TCM)<\/strong> continues to add screen icons and intriguing panels to its star-studded festival lineup during the 7th<\/sup> Annual<\/strong> 2016 TCM Classic Film Festival<\/strong>, set to take place April 28 \u2013 May 1 <\/strong>in Hollywood<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With this year’s festival theme of \u00a0Moving Pictures, <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0as all movie lovers know, and particularly lovers of classic films, the magic of movies isn\u2019t just motion, it\u2019s emotion.\u00a0 As we watch cinematic stories play out, they feel like our own.\u00a0 In 2016, the TCM Classic Film Festival explores MOVING PICTURES\u2014the ones that bring us to tears, rouse us to action, inspire us, even project us to a higher plane. \u00a0In the heart of historic Hollywood we\u2019ll gather to share the big-time emotions of big screen stories, from coming-of-age pictures to terminal tearjerkers, from powerful sports dramas we feel in our bones to religious epics that elevate our spirits.\u00a0 These are the films that that set our love of cinema in motion.<\/p>\n

As part of the celebration of\u00a0Moving Pictures<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0TCM\u00a0<\/strong>has announced some very special additions to the list of luminaries lighting up this year’s Festival:<\/p>\n

  • Beloved Oscar\u00ae and Golden Globe\u00ae winner Angela Lansbury<\/strong> joins the festival with a screening and conversation of The Manchurian Candidate <\/em><\/strong>(1962), the combination satire and political thriller.<\/li>\n
  • Oscar winning actress and singer Rita Moreno <\/strong>will introduce a 60th<\/sup> anniversary screening of the cherished musical The King and I<\/em><\/strong> (1956).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Investigative journalist Carl Bernstein, <\/strong>Oscar winning director\/ screenwriter Tom McCarthy <\/strong>(Spotlight<\/em>), along with Oscar Winning screenwriter Josh Singer <\/strong>(Spotlight<\/em>), join the festivities for opening night\u2019s 40th<\/sup> Anniversary<\/strong> screening of the political thriller All The President\u2019s Men<\/em><\/strong> (1976).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Club TCM<\/strong>, the central gathering point for festival passholders located in the lobby of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel<\/strong>, will feature a remarkable slate that includes:<\/p>\n

      • \u00a0\u201cMan\u2019s Best Friend: Dogs in Film.\u201d <\/strong>Movie icons are stars that evoke an immediate emotional response, and Rin Tin Tin, Lassie, Old Yeller, Benji and Beethoven are right up there with the best of the two-legged variety. \u00a0Join Randy Haberkamp of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as he shares stills and clips from the Academy\u2019s collections of dogs in movie history, and then interviews three of Canine Cinema\u2019s biggest stars during a rare public appearance. Meet Clyde of Marley & Me<\/em> (2008), Brigitte, the original Stella from Modern Family<\/em> and the latest Lassie.<\/li>\n
      • \u201cFrom Headlines to Ticket Lines\u201d <\/strong>a panel discussion with director\u00a0James Vanderbilt<\/strong> (Truth<\/em>), Oscar winning writer Josh Singer<\/strong> (Spotlight)<\/em>, broadcast news producer and author Mary Mapes\u00a0and print journalist\/editor Ben Bradlee, Jr. about the challenges of dramatizing the work of journalists for the screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Previously announced events and appearances for the 2016 TCM Classic Film Festival include a handprint-footprint ceremony to honor acclaimed filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. <\/strong>John Singleton<\/strong> for the 25th<\/sup> anniversary screening of his coming-of-age classic Boyz N The Hood <\/em>(1991), Carl Reiner<\/strong> with an extended conversation and screening of Dead Men Don\u2019t Wear Plaid<\/em>(1982) Elliott Gould<\/strong> with screenings of his Golden Globe nominated performance in M*A*S*H<\/em> (1970), The Long Goodbye<\/em> (1973) and Eva Marie Saint<\/strong> who will be on hand to introduce a screening of the political comedy The Russians Are Coming The Russians Are Coming<\/em> (1966).\u00a0 Actor Stacy Keach <\/strong>will be discussing John Huston\u2019s gritty look at the world of small-time boxing in Fat City<\/em> (1972) and French actress Anna Karina<\/strong> will be in troducin g Band of Outsiders<\/em> (1964), Jean-Luc Godard\u2019s riff on gangster films.<\/p>\n

        Angela Lansbury stars as a one of the screen\u2019s great villains\u2014a mother with amoral political ambitions and a smothering obsession with her son (played by Laurence Harvey)\u2014in this combination satire and political thriller about brainwashed U.S. soldiers sent home as sleeper agents.<\/p>\n

        About the 2016 TCM Classic Film Festival<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

        For the seventh consecutive year, thousands of movie lovers from around the globe will descend upon Hollywood for the TCM Classic Film Festival<\/strong>. The 2016 festival is set to take place Thursday, April 28 \u2013 Sunday, May 1, 2016<\/strong>. Over four packed days and nights, attendees will be treated to an extensive lineup of great movies, appearances by legendary stars and filmmakers, fascinating presentations and panel discussions, special events and more.<\/p>\n

        TCM host and film historian Robert Osborne<\/strong> will once again serve as official host of the TCM Classic Film Festival, with TCM’s Ben Mankiewicz<\/strong> introducing various events. The festival’s official hotel and central gathering point for the sixth consecutive year will be The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel<\/strong>, which has a longstanding role in movie history and was the site of the first Academy Awards\u00ae ceremony. The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel will also offer special rates for festival attendees. Screenings and events during the festival will be held at the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX<\/strong>, the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres<\/strong> and the Egyptian Theatre<\/strong>, as well as other Hollywood venues.<\/p>\n

        Festival Passes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

        Passes for the 2016 TCM Classic Film Festival are on sale now. Fans are able to purchase them through the TCM Classic Film Festival website. As the number of passes available is limited, fans are encouraged to purchase their passes as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

        The “Spotlight” Festival Pass: $1,649<\/strong> \u2013 Includes all privileges available to “Classic” and “Essential” passholders, priority entry to all screening events; plus entry to the exclusive opening-night party following the red-carpet gala screening at TCL Chinese Theatre; meet-and-greet events with TCM friends, including Robert Osborne and Ben Mankiewicz; and a limited edition TCM Classic Film Festival poster.<\/p>\n

        The “Essential” Festival Pass: $749<\/strong> \u2013 Includes all privileges available to “Classic” passholders, plus entry to the opening-night red-carpet gala screening at TCL Chinese Theatre and official TCM Classic Film Festival collectibles.<\/p>\n
