Photo courtesy of The Weinstein Company.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fraser, currently in Mexico City filming, on learning about his nomination through an email from the Academy had this to say:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>\u201cI\u2019m extremely proud to be part of the team who made LION and I\u2019m humbled the Academy has nominated me. My crew, both Indian, and <\/em>Australian,<em> deserve a massive shout out. Their skill and support meant everything to this film. \u00a0 It\u2019s an incredible privilege to be acknowledged among the diverse and talented DPs of the cinematography world, so many of whom are doing amazing work. And so many whom I count as close, personal friends. \u00a0I\u2019d like to say thank you to our extremely talented director Garth Davis for allowing me to help make his wonderful vision a reality \u2013 as well as the people of India and Australia, who were so accommodating during our shoot.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Breaking from tradition, this year, nominations were announced on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in a pre-traped <span id=\"IL_AD1\" class=\"IL_AD\">video<\/span> package via a global livestream, a satellite feed and broadcast media. \u00a0Announcing the <span id=\"IL_AD9\" class=\"IL_AD\">nominees<\/span> were Academy President Cheryl <span id=\"IL_AD3\" class=\"IL_AD\">Boone<\/span>Isaacs, <span id=\"IL_AD7\" class=\"IL_AD\">joined<\/span> by Oscar\u00ae-winning and\u00a0nominated Academy members <span id=\"IL_AD4\" class=\"IL_AD\">Demian Bichir<\/span>, Dustin Lance Black, Glenn Close, Guillermo del\u00a0Toro, Marcia Gay Harden, Terrence Howard, Jennifer Hudson, Brie Larson, Jason Reitman,\u00a0Gabourey Sidibe and Ken Watanabe.<\/p>\n<p>The 89th Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Dolby Theatre\u00ae at Hollywood &amp;\u00a0Highland Center\u00ae in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network at 7 p.m.\u00a0ET\/4 p.m. PT.
