Woody, Buzz and the gang are back in the highly anticipated Disney and Pixar animated film, TOY STORY 4.\u00a0 Accompanying the film is Walt Disney Records\u2019 soundtrack album, which reunites the “Toy Story” franchise with the Academy Award\u00ae-winning composer and songwriter Randy Newman. The soundtrack features two new songs \u201cI Can\u2019t Let You Throw Yourself Away\u201d and \u201cThe Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy.\u201d\u00a0 The end credit version of \u201cThe Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy\u201d is performed by multi-Platinum, Grammy\u00ae-winning musician Chris Stapleton.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>The song is available today as a\u00a0<\/span>single<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>lyric video.\u00a0<\/span><\/a>\u00a0The\u00a0<\/span>soundtrack<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>will be available from Walt Disney Records on June 21 as the film opens in U.S. theaters nationwide.<\/p>\n The \u201cToy Story\u201d films are beloved worldwide for their compelling characters, extraordinary storytelling, stunning visuals and the music of Randy Newman. The composer and songwriter is behind signature songs like \u201cYou\u2019ve Got a Friend in Me,\u201d \u201cStrange Things,\u201d \u201cWhen She Loved Me\u201d and \u201cWe Belong Together,\u201d the last of which earned him an Academy Award\u00ae for best original song in 2010. \u201cHis music defines these movies,\u201d said director Josh Cooley, \u201cI can\u2019t imagine making a fourth one without Randy Newman.\u201d<\/p>\n Newman said, \u201cI have great affection for the films, and it was good to be back in that world again.\u201d\u00a0 According to Newman, \u201cToy Story 4\u201d\u2014like its predecessors\u2014has great emotional depth. \u201cImportant things are happening to people we love,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s plenty of action, but there\u2019s a lot of deeper stuff. This picture had a lot of opportunity to do things of some depth emotionally\u2014but not overdo it.\u201d<\/p>\n Newman penned two new songs in the film, including \u201cI Can\u2019t Let You Throw Yourself Away,\u201d which is about Bonnie\u2019s craft-project-turned-toy, Forky. \u201cHe gets it in his head that he\u2019s disposable, so he keeps trying to throw himself in the trash can,\u201d said Newman. \u201cAnd Woody has put himself in charge of keeping him from doing so.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy” was written from Woody\u2019s perspective.\u00a0 Newman said, \u201cWoody feels like he was a lonesome cowboy until someone comes along and changes his world.\u201d Newman was excited to hear Chris Stapleton would record the end credit version of the song and felt he\u2019d bring Woody\u2019s feelings to life perfectly. \u201cChris Stapleton did a great job on this song.\u201d<\/p>\n Stapleton said, \u201cTo me what has made the \u2018Toy Story\u2019 films hold up over time has been the strength of the stories and the songs and the writing and the characters.
