I recently spoke with Rob about his latest film <a href=\"http:\/\/behindthelensonline.net\/site\/movies\/movies_view.php?editid1=604\"><em>I Melt With You<\/em><\/a>, which just happened to be the same weekend the Muppets &#8211; Miss Piggy, Kermit and Walter &#8211; were doing press for their new movie <em>The Muppets, <\/em>and Elmo was promoting his documentary, <em>Being Elmo.<\/em> Needless to say, before Rob and I could talk about his film, we had to talk about what the whole world has been waiting for &#8211; the return of the Muppets.<\/p>\n<p>\u0081<\/p>\n<p>How are you?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Good to see you again. Been a long time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I know. I know. We meet a-gain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You<\/strong><strong>\u0081<\/strong><strong>&#8216;ve got a lot to live up to today. I spent yesterday with Miss Piggy, Kermit, Walter and Elmo. It<\/strong><strong>\u0081<\/strong><strong>&#8216;s gonna be tough. [laughing]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And are they as witty in person as they are on screen?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Very much so.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I want to do a new reality show. And the reality show is <em>Actors Switching Junkets<\/em>. So right now the Muppets would have to come up here and they\u0081fd have to talk about <a href=\"http:\/\/behindthelensonline.net\/site\/movies\/movies_view.php?editid1=604\"><em>I Melt With You<\/em> <\/a>and we\u0081&#8217;d have to go down and talk about <em>The Muppets <\/em>movie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And do a song and dance, which we all know you can do.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Which I can do! But I draw the line with puppets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But don<\/strong><strong>\u0081<\/strong><strong>&#8216;t call them puppets.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What do you call them?<\/p>\n<p><strong><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2577\" src=\"http:\/\/behindthelensonline.net\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/muppets-4.jpg\" alt=\"The Muppets\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>Muppets.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Just Muppets?<\/p>\n<p><strong>They<\/strong><strong>\u0081<\/strong><strong>&#8216;re very particular.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That is so genius that you got to do that [talk to the Muppets]. How fun would that be? I was on the set of the original <em>Muppet Movie, <\/em>the very first one where they did <em>Rainbow Connection<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And they do it in this movie, too.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They do not! [Wide eyed gasp!] Is it killer?<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is pure tears watching. You<\/strong><strong>\u0081<\/strong><strong>&#8216;re smiling but you<\/strong><strong>\u0081<\/strong><strong>&#8216;re crying when you watch it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Rainbow Connection <\/em>is like waterboarding. It should be outlawed at The Hague for cruel and unusual punishment.
