Douglas, who passed away on Feb. 5 at the age of 103, was known for his iconic work in the Golden Age of Hollywood. Acting in more than 80 movies before he retired in 2004, Douglas was recognized for breaking the Hollywood Blacklist by hiring Dalton Trumbo to write his film\u00a0<em>Spartacus<\/em>\u00a0(1960). He earned three Academy Award\u00ae nominations for Best Actor for\u00a0<em>Champion<\/em>\u00a0(1949),\u00a0<em>The Bad and the Beautiful<\/em>\u00a0(1952) and\u00a0<em>Lust for Life<\/em>\u00a0(1956) and received an Honorary Award in 1995. He was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award of the United States, by President Jimmy Carter in 1981.<\/p>\n<p>The 2020 TCM Classic Film Festival will also feature a screening of\u00a0<em>Spartacus<\/em>\u00a0(1960) in honor of Douglas and the 60<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of his groundbreaking film.
