The event will stream virtually on <strong>Friday, March 5, 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the Heights and Hamilton creator, <strong>Lin-Manuel Miranda<\/strong> will be receiving this year\u2019s <strong>HCA Inspire Award<\/strong>. Each year, the Inspire Award is given to an individual within the entertainment industry whose work serves as an inspiration to others. Lin-Manuel Miranda has broken down barriers while pursuing his dreams and inspiring millions along the way. \u201cMiranda\u2019s work on the Broadway stage has spoken to an entire generation, and his recent work in film and television has only continued to expand upon his talent in additional mediums. Miranda is a pioneer and his passion shines through in everything that he touches. We are absolutely delighted to honor him during the upcoming ceremony,\u201d adds HCA Vice Chair Ashley Menzel.<\/p>\n<p>Writer and director <strong>Emerald Fennell<\/strong> will receive the <strong>HCA Filmmaker on the Rise Award<\/strong> for her directorial debut, <em>Promising Young Woman<\/em>. Since the film\u2019s premiere at Sundance in January 2020, <em>Promising Young Woman<\/em> has become one of the most talked-about and lauded films over the past year. \u201cFilms as bold as <em>Promising Young Woman<\/em> don\u2019t come along every day, and Fennell as a filmmaker has proven that she isn\u2019t afraid to take risks and push boundaries. As a result, this one-of-a-kind film will be talked about for many years to come,\u201d notes HCA Chair Scott Menzel.<\/p>\n<p>Minari composer <strong>Emile Mosseri<\/strong> will receive the <strong>Artisan on the Rise Award<\/strong>. Mosseri has made great strides as an artisan in just four years and has composed scores for various television shows and films, including <em>The Last Black Man In San Francisco, Kajillionaire<\/em>, and <em>Minari<\/em>. \u201c Mosseri\u2019s career is just getting started, and we are proud to be able to celebrate his achievements as an artisan thus far,\u201d adds HCA President Nestor Bentancor.<\/p>\n<p>In the coming weeks, the HCA will be announcing who will be honored with the<strong> Trailblazer Award<\/strong> and <strong>Filmmaker Achievement Award<\/strong>. On February 2, 2021, the organization will release the full list of nominees for the 4th Annual HCA Awards on HCA\u2019s official Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts beginning at 9 am PT\/12 pm ET. <em><strong>The winners will be announced during the virtual ceremony on Friday, March 5, 2021<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>About the Hollywood Critics Association:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nFounded in 2016, the Hollywood Critics Association\u2019s primary goal is to bring together a passionate group of critics to represent the voices of a new era in Hollywood. He is the creator and original star of Broadway\u2019s Hamilton and In the Heights , and the recipient of the 2015 MacArthur Foundation Award, 2019 Portrait of a Nation Prize and 2018 Kennedy Center Honors. Additional TV\/Film credits include: <em>His Dark Materials,<\/em>\u00a0<em>We Are Freestyle Love Supreme<\/em> (2020 Grammy nomination, Best Music Film), <em>Fosse\/Verdon<\/em> (2019 Emmy nomination, Limited Series), <em>Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Curb Your Enthusiasm<\/em> ( 2018 Emmy nomination, Guest Actor), <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em> (2017 Emmy nomination, Guest Actor), <em>Sesame Street, The Electric Company, House, DuckTales, Moana<\/em> (2017 Grammy Award, Best Original Song for \u201cHow Far I\u2019ll Go\u201d; 2017 Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations, Best Original Song) and <em>Mary Poppins Returns<\/em> (2019 Golden Globe Nomination, Best Actor). Additional Broadway credits include: <em>Freestyle Love Supreme<\/em> (featured performer\/producer\/co-founder), <em>Bring It On: The Musical<\/em> (co-composer\/co-lyricist, Tony nomination for Best Musical), and <em>West Side Story<\/em> (2009 revival, Spanish translations).<\/p>\n<p>Miranda has actively supported the relief efforts in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria in 2017, creating the benefit single \u201cAlmost Like Praying\u201d and bringing Hamilton to the island in 2019, which raised $15 million for the arts.\u00a0\u00a0He has received stars on both the Puerto Rico Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Miranda lives with his wife, two sons, and their dog in New York.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>About Emerald Fennell:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nEmerald Fennell is a Golden Globe\u00ae and Emmy\u00ae nominated writer, director, actress, and author who has established herself as a prolific multihyphenate in theater, film, and television.\u00a0 Fennell\u2019s latest project, <em>Promising Young Woman<\/em>, which she wrote and produced, was released in theaters on December 25th from Focus Features. This is Fennell\u2019s directorial feature film and screenplay debut. The film stars Carey Mulligan and was a breakout success out of the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Press have voiced their enthusiasm, and fans have expressed excitement for a feminist, timely take on the revenge genre, which IndieWire called a \u201cfresh, totally wild, revenge thriller with a bite.\u201d The script was recognized as one of the top scripts of the 2018 Blacklist.<\/p>\n<p>Also upcoming, she wrote the contemporary musical stage version of <em>Cinderella<\/em> alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber, which will debut at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London\u2019s West End.\u00a0 Fennell can be seen in Season 3 and 4 of Netflix\u2019s award-winning drama series <em>The Crown <\/em>playing \u201cCamilla Parker Bowles,\u201d for which she has received rave reviews. Prior to that, she served as the showrunner on Season 2 of <em>Killing Eve<\/em>, for which she was nominated for two Emmys\u00ae and a Golden Globe\u00ae.<\/p>\n<p>Her debut short, <em>Careful How You Go<\/em>, which she wrote and directed, premiered at Sundance in 2019. Off-screen, Fennell has published three novels: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Shiverton Hall<\/span> along with the sequel, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Creeper<\/span>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Monsters<\/span> (2017 Carnegie Medal nominee), all of which were incredibly well-received and drew comparisons ranging from Roald Dahl to Bret Easton Ellis. Recent on-camera film credits include <em>The Danish Girl, Pan<\/em>, and <em>Anna Karenina<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>About Emile Mosseri:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nEmile Mosseri is an award-winning composer, pianist, singer, and producer based in Los Angeles.
