Sunday, August 29, 2021 (Los Angeles, CA)<\/b> -\u2013 The Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) announced tonight the winners of the inaugural HCA TV Awards. Leading the charge is Apple TV+\u2019s\u00a0<\/i>TED LASSO <\/b>with four awards, including Best Streaming Series – Comedy, Best Actor in a Streaming Series – Comedy, Best Supporting Actor in a Streaming Series – Comedy, and Best Supporting Actress in a Streaming Series -Comedy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/i>Netflix\u2019s<\/i> THE CROWN <\/b>scores three wins with Best Actor in a Streaming Series – Drama, Best Actress in a Streaming Series – Drama, and Best Supporting Actress in a Streaming Series, Drama, <\/i>while Disney’s <\/em>acclaimed and beloved THE MANDALORIAN <\/strong>picked up the award for Best Streaming Series – Drama.\u00a0 <\/em>Freeform\u2019s<\/i> CRUEL SUMMER<\/strong> was named Best Cable Series.\u00a0 <\/em>NBC\u2019s<\/i> NEW AMSTERDAM <\/b>and YOUNG ROCK <\/b>were named Best Broadcast Network Series – Drama <\/em>and Best Broadcast Network Series – Comedy<\/em>, <\/b>respectively.\u00a0 <\/b>SYFY\u2019s <\/i>RESIDENT ALIEN <\/b>also received top-honors as Best Cable Series – Comedy.<\/em><\/p>\n The HCA also bestowed Honorary Awards including the \u201cLegacy Award\u201d presented to Cobra Kai<\/b>, the \u201cSpotlight Award\u201d presented to\u00a0Zoey\u2019s Extraordinary Playlist,<\/b>\u00a0the \u201cImpact Award\u201d presented to\u00a0New Amsterdam<\/b>, the \u201cPop Culture Icon Award\u201d presented to\u00a0Tom Ellis<\/b>, the \u201cTV Icon Award\u201d to\u00a0Marta Kauffman<\/b>\u00a0and the \u201cVirtuoso Award\u201d presented to\u00a0Bo Burnham<\/b>.<\/p>\n \u201cAll of the nominees that we celebrated and honored tonight are amongst some of the best in television history,\u201d notes HCA Chairman Scott Menzel. \u201cWhile these past 17 months have been incredibly difficult for many of us, television has once again become our best friend. Series like\u00a0Ted Lasso<\/b>,\u00a0Hacks<\/b>, and\u00a0Young Rock<\/b>\u00a0provided us with a sense of joy and happiness during these troubled times. Dramatic series such as\u00a0New Amsterdam<\/b>,\u00a0<\/i>Lovecraft Country<\/b>,\u00a0<\/i>and\u00a0Pose<\/b> were as entertaining as they were educational.
