{"id":33096,"date":"2022-01-24T08:10:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-24T16:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/behindthelensonline.net\/site\/?p=33096"},"modified":"2022-01-24T08:13:01","modified_gmt":"2022-01-24T16:13:01","slug":"jeff-mychael-danna-talk-the-spooky-kooky-fun-of-scoring-the-addams-family-2-exclusive-interview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/behindthelensonline.net\/site\/interviews\/interview-exclusives\/jeff-mychael-danna-talk-the-spooky-kooky-fun-of-scoring-the-addams-family-2-exclusive-interview\/","title":{"rendered":"JEFF &#038; MYCHAEL DANNA talk the spooky kooky fun of scoring THE ADDAMS FAMILY 2 &#8211; Exclusive Interview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><code><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4vKRkIWhZV0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A fun and enlightening exclusive interview with composers JEFF DANNA and MYCHAEL DANNA talking about scoring music for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uphe.com\/movies\/the-addams-family-2\"><b><i>THE ADDAMS FAMILY 2.<\/i><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s no secret that JEFF and MYCHAEL DANNA are two of my favorite composers, individually and collectively.\u00a0 They inject creativity into every composition and score be it for television or film, and do it with tonally perfect emotion through the music and the instrumentation used to perform that music.\u00a0 Their work is unforgettable with everything from\u00a0<em>Onward<\/em> to\u00a0<em>The Good Dinosaur\u00a0<\/em>to\u00a0<em>Storks <\/em>\u00a0to <em>The Breadwinner<\/em> on the big screen or series like <em>Alias Grace<\/em> and Guillermo del Toro&#8217;s <em>Tales from Arcadia. <\/em>\u00a0 And of course, Jeff and Mychael added another layer of creepy, kooky, ooky, spooky fun to <em>THE ADDAMS FAMILY <\/em>first animated feature and then returned to score <em>THE ADDAMS FAMILY 2 <\/em>(and hopefully, <em>THE ADDAMS FAMILY 3).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon, THE ADDAMS FAMILY 2 takes on a challenge that every parent can relate to, especially parents with teenaged kids.\u00a0 Wednesday and Pugsley are growing up a bit too fast to suit Morticia and Gomez.\u00a0 No more sit down family dinners.\u00a0 &#8220;Scream time&#8221; is the priority.\u00a0 Wednesday is obsessing with her neverending science projects and dealing with the jealousy of classmates while Pugsley only wants to get a girlfriend.\u00a0 What&#8217;s a parent to do!\u00a0 The answer is simple for Morticia and Gomez.\u00a0 Pack up the Addams RV and hit the road!\u00a0 \u00a0A summer of fun with just the family; well, all but Grandmama who stays home and comes up with a fun game plan all her own.\u00a0 But of course, along the way, adventure and hijinks ensue that ultimately lead to everyone&#8217;s realization that family matters.<\/p>\n<p>With The Addamses hitting the road on a cross-country vacation this go-round, the door opened wide for Jeff and Mychael to infuse new musical elements into the music, celebrating the culture clash of the Eastern European immigrant Addamses with the touristy locales of the United States.\u00a0 As you listen to the score, you&#8217;ll notice fabulous signature character motifs that incorporate cultural musical elements both in style and instrumentation, as well as specific locales and themes like Miami Beach or the Alamo.\u00a0 But above all, the Dannas keep emotion at the forefront; emotion for the audience and the emotionality of the characters.
