{"id":866,"date":"2014-02-16T11:17:21","date_gmt":"2014-02-16T19:17:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/moviesharkdeblore.com\/site\/?p=866"},"modified":"2014-10-11T11:57:29","modified_gmt":"2014-10-11T18:57:29","slug":"chad-michael-murray-embraces-the-passion-and-independent-spirit-of-fruitvale-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/behindthelensonline.net\/site\/interviews\/chad-michael-murray-embraces-the-passion-and-independent-spirit-of-fruitvale-station\/","title":{"rendered":"CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY Embraces the Passion and Independent Spirit of FRUITVALE STATION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>By: debbie lynn elias<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/behindthelensonline.net\/site\/movies\/movies_view.php?editid1=768\"><strong>FRUITVALE STATION<\/strong><\/a> has taken the world by storm, wowing critics and the public alike, not only because of the true story that gives rise to the film, but because of the excellence brought to the screen by first time feature film writer\/director Ryan Coogler.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the events surrounding the death of Oscar Grant, FRUITVALE STATION is the story of Oscar Grant\u2019s final 24 hours before he was shot and killed by BART police officer Johannes Mehserle at the Fruitvale Station of the BART system in Oakland, California on January 1, 2009.\u00a0 The shooting occurred following an altercation on the train that didn\u2019t involve Grant, but one for which he was detained on the platform along with three of his friends by lead officer Anthony Pirone.\u00a0 The subsequent maelstrom resulted not only a large scale riots garnering national and international attention,\u00a0 but Mehserle being convicted for involuntary manslaughter and serving 11 months in jail.\u00a0 This was a story that had to be told and one in which actors clamored to be a part.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-867\" src=\"http:\/\/behindthelensonline.net\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/chad-michael-murray-fruitvale.jpg\" alt=\"chad michael murray - fruitvale\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/behindthelensonline.net\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/chad-michael-murray-fruitvale.jpg 400w, https:\/\/behindthelensonline.net\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/chad-michael-murray-fruitvale-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While Michael B. Jordan, Melonie Diaz and Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer won hard fought battles for the lead roles, Kevin Durand and Chad Michael Murray fought equally hard for the roles of the BART platform officers involved in the shooting, Caruso and Ingram, respectively. [Names were changed in the film for legal reasons.]<\/p>\n<p>Although not as prominent as the roles of Oscar Grant, his girlfriend Sophia or his mother, and while Chad Michael Murray jokes, \u201cif you blinked, you missed me\u201d, the role of Ingram is pivotal to the story and the chain of events leading up to Grant\u2019s death and one which Murray takes seriously.<\/p>\n<p>Describing Ryan Coogler as \u201cthe best, the absolute best guy there is\u201d, Murray couldn\u2019t be prouder of not only the film\u2019s success but that lauded on his co-stars.\u00a0 \u201cThey truly, truly do deserve it.\u00a0 That was labor of love.\u201d\u00a0 Himself now a film\/tv veteran when compared to fellow actors like Michael B.
