LOS ANGELES, CA \u2013 Actors Clancy Brown, Ansel Elgort, Jack O\u2019Connell and Tessa Thompson will perform a live reading of selected scenes from the four winning scripts at the 2014 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting Awards Presentation & Live Read on Thursday, November 13, at 7:30 p.m., at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.\u00a0 For the second consecutive year, the event will be directed and produced by Rodrigo Garcia and Julie Lynn, respectively, whose credits include \u201cAlbert Nobbs,\u201d \u201cMother and Child\u201d and the upcoming \u201cLast Days in the Desert.\u201d<\/p>\n

Multitalented performer Clancy Brown has appeared in such feature films as \u201cCowboys & Aliens,\u201d \u201cStarship Troopers,\u201d \u201cThe Shawshank Redemption\u201d and \u201cHighlander.\u201d\u00a0 An accomplished voice actor, Brown has lent his talents to several television series, including \u201cSpongeBob SquarePants\u201d and \u201cStar Wars: The Clone Wars,\u201d as well as such video games as \u201cCall of Duty: Black Ops II.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ansel Elgort can currently be seen in Jason Reitman\u2019s latest feature, \u201cMen, Women & Children.\u201d\u00a0 He also starred in this past summer\u2019s \u201cThe Fault in Our Stars\u201d opposite Shailene Woodley.\u00a0 In his next film, Elgort reprises the role of Caleb in \u201cInsurgent,\u201d the sequel to \u201cDivergent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jack O\u2019Connell recently appeared in the prison drama \u201cStarred Up\u201d for which he was nominated for a BAFTA Scotland Award and a British Independent Film Award. His other feature film credits include \u201c\u201971,\u201d for which he was nominated for a British Independent Film Award, and \u201c300: Rise of an Empire.\u201d He also starred in the television series \u201cSkins.\u201d O\u2019Connell will next be seen as Louis \u201cLouie\u201d Zamperini in Universal Pictures\u2019 epic drama \u201cUnbroken,\u201d directed by Angelina Jolie, which is set for a December 25 release.<\/p>\n

Tessa Thompson currently appears in the Lionsgate\/Roadside Attractions feature \u201cDear White People\u201d for which she was nominated for Breakthrough Actor for the Gotham Awards. Up next she portrays civil rights leader Diane Nash in the Paramount Pictures film \u201cSelma,\u201d opening in December. Her credits include \u201cFor Colored Girls\u201d and the BBC\u2019s \u201cCopper.\u201d<\/p>\n

Presenters for the evening\u2019s program include filmmaker and 2010 Nicholl fellow Destin Cretton (\u201cShort Term 12\u201d), filmmaker Ava DuVernay (\u201cSelma\u201d), Academy Award\u00ae-winning actress Eva Marie Saint (\u201cOn the Waterfront\u201d), and screenwriter Kirsten \u201cKiwi\u201d Smith (\u201cLegally Blonde\u201d).<\/p>\n

Three individual writers and one writing team have been selected as winners of the 2014 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition out of a record 7,511 entries.<\/p>\n

Each of the three individual winners and the combined writing team will receive a $35,000 prize, the first installment of which will be distributed at the event.\u00a0 Since 1986, 137 Nicholl fellowships have been awarded.\u00a0 Fellowships are presented with the understanding that the recipients will each complete a feature-length screenplay during their fellowship year.<\/p>\n
